BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Bellingham City Council is holding a public hearing this Monday to discuss support for the proposed new jail.
The jail is one of several projects under the Justice Project Implementation Plan that would be funded by a tax measure on the November ballot.
If it passes, the measure would institute a sales and use tax of 0.2 percent, or 20 cents for every $100 purchase.
The Council will also hold a second public hearing to take comments on the proposed fifth greenways levy.
Both hearings will take place during the Council’s meeting at 7 pm this Monday.
Advanced testimony is encouraged, but members of the public can comment live in-person or via Zoom.
