BELLINGHAM, WA – A street in Fairhaven is getting a new name Monday.

A short section of 12th street in Fairhaven – one that connects Finnegan way to another section of 12th street – will be renamed Brian Griffin Way.

The honoree, Brian Griffin, worked on civic improvement campaigns including Boulevard Park, The Village Green in Fairhaven, Depot Market Square and the downtown parkade.

He also wrote or co-wrote eight books, five of which are on Bellingham history.

Griffin considers it a great honor to have a street named after him.

He says he is humbled and “It’s more than I could have dreamed of.”

All are welcome to the unveiling ceremony scheduled for 10:30 Monday morning.
