BELLINGHAM, WA (KGMI.COM) – Increased foot patrols by uniformed officers could be coming to downtown Bellingham.

The City Council’s Public Health and Safety Committee heard presentations on downtown safety needs and actions at their meeting Monday, October 16.

Mayor Seth Fleetwood told the committee that the general consensus among business owners and other parties is the need for more police presence.

Fleetwood said the City is working with the Bellingham Police Department to provide increased foot patrols downtown and other key areas.
