BELLINGHAM, WA – The deadline on second half property tax payments is coming up soon.
The Whatcom County Treasurer’s Office is reminding residents that payments are due this Tuesday, October 31st.
Payments need to be either postmarked or received by that date to avoid any interest or penalties.
The Treasurer’s Office warns people paying online that those payments usually aren’t postmarked and are considered late if processed after the due date.
Late tax payments will result in 1% of interest per month, plus an added 8% penalty is they’re not paid by December 1st.
Anyone that’s at least 61 years old or retired because of a disability, owns their own primary residence and earns less than $42,043 could be entitled to a property tax exemption.
Any questions can be directed toward the Assessor’s office at 360-778-5050.
