BELLINGHAM, WA – Bellingham Police are investigating a death at a notorious homeless encampment.

Public Information Officer Megan Peters says that officers responded to the site near Wal-Mart Wednesday night.

The victim, who has not been identified, was found dead by another person who lived in a tent with them.

Police are working to contact the victim’s next of kin.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the victim’s cause of death.

This is the second death reported at that encampment in as many months.
