FERNDALE, WA. – (KGMI.com) The Ferndale City Council will decide on Monday, December 4th, whether the city’s budding Tony Hawks will have a place to learn their skills.
Council members will take a final vote on a proposal to add a skate park to Pioneer Park at their Monday meeting.
A report by city staff recommends the $2.3 million project be awarded to Janiki General Contracting of Sedro-Woolley.
The report says $700,000 has already been raised for the project from the private sector, and the city can fund the rest without raising taxes.
Councilmember Jon Mutchler says on social media that he’s leaning toward a no vote because of the cost.
But supporters say it would be a good investment on a place for young people and families to gather and recreate.
