BLAINE, WA – Plans have been finalized to get the historic Plover ferry back in commission by next spring.

The Northern Light reports the nearly 80-year-old vessel has been out of service since September of 2022, with Blaine City Council allocating $30,000 to Drayton Harbor Maritime for repairs that December.

Those repairs were put on hold earlier this year when it became clear the project required much more funding.

In a meeting earlier this week the city council unanimously voted to grant Drayton Harbor Maritime an additional $82,000 to finish the restoration, with the contract stipulating the work must be done by May 15.
