BELLINGHAM, WA – (KGMI.com) A new park in north Bellingham is closer to getting a new name to go along with it.

The city held an open survey for community members to submit name suggestions for a new public park under development in the Cordata Neighborhood.

The park is located just west of Northwest Drive next to Costco.

After reviewing nearly 150 name suggestions from the public, the City Parks and Recreation Advisory Board selected “Northern Lights Park.”

Other suggested names for the park included Tokitae Memorial Park, Kirkland Signature Recreational Area, the Park of Subdued Excitement and more.

The City Council will consider the advisory board’s recommendation and finalize a name at its upcoming meeting on January 29.
