The Seahawks made it official today, holding a news conference to confirm that Mike Macdonald is the team’s new head coach.

He answered reporters’ questions for about a half hour this morning.

Meanwhile, a familiar name has come up in speculation over who might take over the team’s offense.

The Seattle Times reports that former Washington Huskies offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, who recently followed coach Kalen DeBoer to Alabama, is being considered to be the Hawks new offensive coordinator.

The Hawks have to also hire a defensive coordinator, but that job isn’t as critical with Macdonald’s experience as DC with the Baltimore Ravens and Michigan Wolverines.

The Washington Commanders hired former Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as their new head coach today.

Quinn spent two stints with Seattle before being hired as Atlanta’s head coach in 2015.

He ended up moving to Dallas in 2021 where he coached as defensive coordinator through last season.

Quinn was one of the prominent names attached to the Seahawks’ vacant head coach position before they hired Mike Macdonald yesterday.

His first big test will take place this spring in the NFL Draft, where the Commanders hold the second overall pick.

The Seattle Storm made a major move yesterday.

They traded their fourth overall pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft along with guard Kia Nurse in exchange for a 2026 first-round pick from the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Storm followed the trade by signing 6x All-Star Skylar Diggins-Smith, who will join former Notre Dame teammate Jewell Loyd on the team.

The Western Washington University women’s team is looking to extend their 7-game win streak tonight.

They’re hosting Alaska Fairbanks for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night.

The game will open the second half of the Vikings’ conference schedule.

The team moved up to No. 13 in the national Division 2 rankings after a big win over previously ninth-ranked Montana State-Billings over the weekend.

They still haven’t lost a game at home this season, remaining a perfect 10-0.

Tipoff is at 7 pm at Carver Gym.

Meanwhile, the men are hoping to rebound from back-to-back losses.

They’re in Lacey playing 7th-ranked Saint Martin’s.

Saint Martins’ loss last Saturday snapped their impressive 10-game win streak.

Vikings guard Kai Johnson is averaging nearly 27 points over his last four games.

Tipoff for tonight’s game is at 7 pm.
