SEATTLE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A winter storm warning issued Monday could bring up to a foot of snow to the Cascade mountains.

The National Weather Service in Seattle says the warning will remain in effect until 4 a.m. Tuesday. Forecasters say the Cascade Mountains of Whatcom and Skagit Counties, including Mount Baker Ski Area, could see 6 to 12 inches of snow Monday.

A winter storm watch is also in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon. It could result in 1-3 feet of heavy snow in the mountains.

Mountain travel is expected to be challenging, so drivers are advised to plan on slippery road conditions and travel with caution.
