RENTON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The young man accused of speeding through a red light in Renton last month and crashing into a van, killing a woman and three children, has pleaded not guilty to numerous charges.

KOMO reports 18-year-old Chase Daniel Jones of Kent appeared in court Monday via video from his hospital bed.

Witnesses said he had been speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before the crash that killed a 12-year-old boy, 12- and 13-year-old siblings and a 38-year-old woman. Two other children were badly injured.

Prosecutors said data from Jones’ vehicle shows he was going 112 miles per hour at the time of the crash. They add he was accused of speeding and had totaled two other vehicles in separate incidents months before the Renton crash.

He won’t be allowed to operate motor vehicles if he’s able to post the $100,000 bond after he’s released from the hospital.
