BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A popular market is kicking off the season with tree giveaways and thrown vegetables.

The Bellingham Farmers Market is celebrating its season opening on Saturday.

The market officially opens at 10 a.m. with the ringing of the Market Depot Square bell. But the Annual Cabbage Toss with the Mayor’s Office will begin at 9:45.

According to the market’s Facebook page, the City of Bellingham will be giving away 500 trees to residents. In addition, the first 50 customers will receive free canvas shopping bags at the info booth.

The market will be held at its usual location at Market Depot Square from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all are welcome. It will be open every Saturday at the same time for the rest of the year.
