WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – It’s the weekend and there is SO much to do. As always, we are here to help get you out and about this weekend with this Friday’s Lifestyle Lookout.
The 2024 Whatcom County Home and Lifestyle Show is going to be off the hook. Especially if you’re looking for some hooks to install in your home, garage or shed, the Whatcom County Home and Lifestyle show is going to be very much ON the hook. That’s right – we put a HOOK joke in here, and we aren’t embarrassed.
A home and lifestyle show may sound a little blasé but listen to this. This is the largest home show north of Seattle and is celebrating its 43rd year this year. There will be over 200 exhibits featuring all kinds of design and home improvement information. It’s not just for adults looking to spruce up their digs, though. This year, the Whatcom County Home and Lifestyle Show will feature fun for the whole family. We’re talking about kids’ activities like a Lego masters building class, the WECU interactive kids area, a Gnome scavenger hunt and of The Reptile Man.
I’m guessing “The Reptile Man” isn’t some half serpent, half man overlord but rather a dude with reptiles to show your kids. Fear not!
There will also be food trucks on the scene to satiate your hunger, Outlaws Saloon will have a beer garden serving beer and drinks, and get this, there’s going to be a barbeque competition. Perhaps some smoked gator for a snack? Maybe The Reptile Man would not like that too much…
The Whatcom County Home and Lifestyle Show runs Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds in Lynden and admission is free. Go to the NWW Fair website or visit the Building Industry Association of Whatcom County’s website for all the details.
Speaking of reptiles: Dragons! The Upfront Theater presents Wizards of the Northwest Coast, a dungeons and dragons RPG improv show. The audience will join a band of unlikely heroes as they embark on a true-to-life quest. Armed with d20’s (which are 20-sided dice) the audience will journey through strange lands, navigate perils and pitfalls, bond over pints and fight off dangerous foes.
Will they survive and complete the quest? That’ll be up to the audience and their dice rolling skills. How fun does that sound? Wizards of the Northwest Coast runs Friday and Saturday night at the Upfront Theatre in downtown Bellingham. Get your tickets at theupfront.com now…if you dare.
It’s time to get groovy! Tomorrow night at the Mount Baker Theatre is going to be off the hook (you really can’t stop us with these hook jokes). “Uptown” will bring their show to town with their take on Motown, Soul and R&B hits.
Hits from Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, Jackson 5 and even Bruno Mars all blend together in this unique and fresh look back on all the hits you love. Music kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night and you can get your tickets at mountbakertheatre.com.
That’s all, folks! We will see you next Friday with another list of great things to do. Don’t have too much fun without us, okay?
