MOUNT VERNON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An off-duty Skagit County Sheriff’s Corrections Deputy was arrested for domestic violence in Mount Vernon Thursday morning.

Mount Vernon Police said the suspect and his wife had an altercation at their residence on the 100 block of N 21st Street in Mount Vernon. The 27-year-old woman was then transported to the Skagit Valley Emergency Room by the Mount Vernon Fire Department. Mount Vernon Police were notified of her suspected abuse-related injuries at around 2:35 a.m. Injuries included a laceration on the woman’s face.

Mount Vernon Police arrested the suspect a little before 9:45 a.m. for a 2nd-Degree Domestic Violence Assault charge. He was booked into Whatcom County Jail without bail early Thursday afternoon.

MyBellinghamNow is withholding the suspect’s name pending formal charges. Mount Vernon Police reports the investigation is still ongoing.
