BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Another member of a major drug trafficking ring in Whatcom County has been arrested.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s spokesperson Deb Slater says 58-year-old Alvin Godette was taken into custody Thursday for the second time in just over three weeks.
This follows his previous arrest on March 27, which was made in connection to a larger investigation into a drug ring that led to five arrests on March 20. Godette was released on bail five days later.
He was arrested again in downtown Bellingham on Thursday, when Bellingham Police spokesperson Megan Peters says two officers caught him attempting to deal fentanyl.
The Whatcom Gang and Drug Task Force and DEA began surveillance on downtown Bellingham drug use earlier this year. Their investigation found connections to a large Mexican drug trafficking operation that Godette has been implicated in.
Godette pled not guilty to those charges and remains at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
Investigators are still looking for one more co-conspirator involved in the operation who they will not name until they are taken into custody.
