EVERETT, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The mother of a murdered 4-year-old Everett boy has plead not guilty to first-degree murder Monday, April 22.

The Seattle Times reports that 27-year-old Janet Garcia was arrested when police found the brutalized body of her son Ariel near Joint Base Lewis-McChord last month. Janet has been officially charged with first-degree murder with aggravating factors of domestic violence and a vulnerable victim.

Prosecutors alleged that Janet injured Ariel 41 times at the time of his death – 16 of those times were stabbings in the abdomen, chest and back.

Her trial is set for June 7.
