NORTH BEND, WA. (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Residents were treated to an unusual wildlife sighting when four zebras escaped from their trailer and galloped into a King County neighborhood.

WSP Trooper Rick Johnson said three of the four zebras were quickly captured Sunday, but the fate of the fourth is unknown.

The zebras were being transported from Washington to Montana when the driver took the I-90 exit in North Bend to secure the trailer.

That’s when the the zebras escaped.

Witness Dan Barnett and other drivers helped protect the zebras from the busy interstate, as drivers on the offramp pulled over to make a makeshift fence to block the animals from the highway.

The zebras ran to a neighboring yard, where two were captured with the help of rodeo professionals.

The third, the baby of the herd, was corralled later.
