BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A convicted Bellingham child rapist is enroute to begin a lengthy prison sentence.

26-year-old Jonathan D. Alex was sentenced on Thursday, May 19, to 14 years behind bars and a lifetime of community custody.

Alex pled guilty to third degree child rape, second degree rape and witness tampering charges. He was arrested in April 2022 after contacting and maintaining a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

Alex used an alias and lied to the victim about his age.

The victim found out about Alex’s true identity after reading news reports about his prior arrests.

He also faced additional child rape, harassment and assault charges stemming from separate cases, but those were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
