BLAINE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Black bear sightings have been reported recently near Blaine and the area around the Loomis Trail Golf Club.
The reports say a sow and her cub have been spotted, but Becky Elder with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) said they believe the smaller bear is about a year old.
Elder said bear sightings are not unusual in our area and that keeping food sources such as trash, bird feeders and pet food secure is the best action to take.
Anyone who sees a bear should keep a safe distance. The department welcomes reports of bear sightings, and you can report the sightings on WDFW’s website or call (360)902-2936. Call 911 if there is an emergency situation involving wildlife.
