SEATTLE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – While a pro-Palestinian encampment has just recently sprung up on Western Washington University’s campus, the encampment on the University of Washington (UW) campus is about to disband.

Organizers told the UW campus newspaper The Daily that they’ve reached an agreement with the university and will vacate the encampment Monday, May 20 afternoon.

They said the school hasn’t budged on some of their key demands but is willing to take action on several measures. Those include adding two of the protesters’ representatives to the university’s divestment committee and more transparency about investments held by the school.

UW will also establish a scholarship fund for Palestinians, create a center to focus on Palestinian studies, encourage reach out to Palestinian universities, and distance the school from study abroad programs that exclude Palestinian or Arab students.

Organizers said they’ll continue to push for Palestinian Liberation through means beyond the encampment.
