Ty France hit a 2-run double and Luke Raley drove him in with another double to give the M’s an early 3-0 lead.

Closer Andres Munoz left the game in the ninth inning with back soreness after an awkward collision at the plate, but Tayler Saucedo relieved him to get the final out.

The Seattle Storm stayed red-hot with yesterday’s 80-62 win over the Phoenix Mercury.

All-Star center Ezi Magbegor scored 13 of her 21 points in the first quarter just hours after inking a one-year contract extension.

Skylar Diggins-Smith added 17 to help lead the Storm to their fifth-straight win.

The win put the Storm within half a game of the Minnesota Lynx for first place in the Western Conference.

Seattle will play the defending-champion Las Vegas Aces on Friday before traveling to Minnesota to play the Lynx on Sunday for a chance to lead the West.

 

A division rival for the Seahawks just rewarded one of their star players.

The San Francisco 49ers gave All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey a two-year, $38 million contract extension yesterday, according to a person familiar with the deal.

McCaffrey has helped transform the Niners’ offense since being traded from Carolina midway through the 2022 season.

He earned AP Offensive Player of the Year earlier this year after his first full season with the team.

 

The Bellingham Bells dropped their first road game of the season last night.

They lost to the Kamloops NorthPaws 3-2.

The Bells had a chance to win with two runners on base in the eighth inning, but the NorthPaws turned a double play to erase what would have been the game-tying run by Jason Shedlock.

The Bells now fall to 2-2 on the season.

The second of the three game series in Kamloops starts at 6:35 tonight.
