WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Be careful if you’re planning on enjoying the warm weather at beaches this weekend.

The Whatcom County Health Department has issued swimming advisories for Larrabee State Park and Birch Bay beach, tidelands and Wildcat Cove. Recent tests found high levels of fecal bacteria at those locations.

That announcement follows similar advisories at Taylor Beach and Little Squalicum Beach.

Members of the public and their pets are advised to avoid contact with the water and sand in those areas. The health department advises showering and washing hands if you’ve already made contact at those beaches.
