LAKE SAMISH, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County Public Works has announced an update for boaters and other watercraft users under the North Lake Samish Bridge.
Public Works is using a red light/green light system on its project website to notify the public when watercraft traffic under the bridge is open. People on the water should expect up to 15 minutes of intermittent delays during the month of July when passing under the bridge.
A sign will also be posted at the public boat launch on Lake Samish and warning buoys will be placed around the bridge when traffic is closed. Watercrafts will be prohibited under the bridge when demolition begins in August and will likely last through the rest of the summer.
Construction of the new North Lake Samish Bridge is expected to continue through August 2025.
Public Works says most of the lake will be unaffected by construction and access to the public boat launch will remain open, though Samish Park will be closed throughout the project.
