The Mariners’ woes continued this afternoon in their 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

It was another day where the M’s held a slim 1-0 lead for nearly the entire game, until the Angels scored two runs off a pair of RBI singles in the eighth.

Gregory Santos gave up both runs in his fourth appearance out of the bullpen this season after spending the first half on the injured list.

Mitch Haniger scored the sole run of the game for the M’s with a solo home run in the second inning.

The loss ruined another impressive performance by an M’s starter, this time it was Luis Castillo throwing six shutout innings.

Seattle has now lost eight of its last nine games, with six of those losses coming to the Angels.

Meanwhile, the Astros trounced the Athletics 8-1 today to give them sole possession of first place in the AL West.

The Mariners have the day off tomorrow before looking to get back on track in a weekend series against the major league-worst Chicago White Sox.

Good news for Seahawks fans.

The team announced that new linebackers Jerome Baker and Tyrel Dodson have passed their physicals after initially being placed on the physically unable to perform list.

The two were added this offseason to shore up the Seahawks’ hole at linebacker following the departure of last season’s starters Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks.

It comes as the team held their first practice for training camp today.

The Seahawks narrowly missed out on having to face Bill Belichick twice next season.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told the TK Show podcast that he offered Belichick a job on his coaching staff, but was turned down.

He says Belichick is busy helping his son Steve fit into his new defensive coordinator job at the University of Washington.

The NBA on TNT might not be back after all.

The NBA signed its 11-year, $76 billion media rights deal with Disney, NBC and Amazon today after saying it would not accept Warner Bros. Discovery’s $1.8 billion offer to match Amazon.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver says the digital opportunities with Amazon aligns with global interest in the league, along with Amazon’s massive subscriber base that can reach more fans.

TNT Sports says it will take “appropriate action” and says it believes the NBA has to accept its offer as part of the contract they signed.

The Bellingham Bells shut out the Kelowna Falcons 1-0 yesterday for Cascade Radio Group Night.

The game was knotted at 0-0 in a pitcher’s duel until All-Star shortstop Roman Martin hit a sacrifice fly to score Trent Mallonee in the seventh inning for the lone run of the game.

It was the Bells’ eighth shutout of the season, the most of any team in the West Coast League.

They’re now tied for second place in the North Division with a 7-6 second-half record.

The Bells will look to clinch the series against Kelowna in Game Two tonight.

First pitch is at 6:35 from Joe Martin Field.
