The Mariners are kicking off a nine-game homestand tonight with their series opener against the National League-leading Philadelphia Phillies.

The struggling Phillies have lost six of their last seven games and were just swept by the Yankees.

The Mariners meanwhile have seen a revitalized offense after their moves at the trade deadline.

They’ve scored at least six runs in five of their last six games.

Keep a close eye on the Astros as well this weekend.

They’re starting a series against the Rays as the AL West lead is still tied between Seattle and Houston.

Bryan Woo will look to start the M’s homestand off strong tonight against the Phillies.

Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.

A division rival for the Mariners just lost a key piece.

The Angels announced that star outfielder Mike Trout has a torn meniscus that will sideline him for the rest of the season.

The 3x MVP has averaged just 64 games played per season over the past five years after suffering a string of injuries.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Seahawks QB Geno Smith “shouldn’t miss any time” after missing the team’s past two practices.

Mike Macdonald says Geno got banged up a bit during practice on Tuesday,  but tests for knee and hip injuries didn’t show anything significant.

Sam Howell, who was sent to Seattle in a trade with the Commanders earlier this year, took the first-team reps over the past two days with Geno out.

The Sounders are hosting Necaxa on Sunday in group play for the 2024 Leagues Cup.

The Leagues Cup is a tournament that includes all 29 MLS teams and all 18 Liga MX clubs placed into 15 groups of three.

The top two teams from every group will advance to the Round of 32, with the third-place finisher eliminated from the competition.

It runs through August 25, with both leagues pausing their seasons for the duration of the competition.

The Sounders are already off to a 1-0 start after beating Minnesota United last Friday.

Sunday’s match takes place at 7:30 at Lumen Field.

The Bellingham Bells couldn’t hold off a late-game rally by Kamloops last night in a 6-5 loss.

The Bells went up 5-0 early before the NorthPaws responded with six unanswered runs to take the deciding game of the series.

All-Stars Roman Martin and Jacob Mejia both hit homers for the Bells in the loss.

They now fall to 12-9 in the second half of the season and sit at third place in the North Division.

They’re in for a big weekend series matchup against the Victoria HarbourCats in their last regular season home series of the year.

The surging HarbourCats have won nine straight and sit one game above the Bells for second place in the North.

First pitch for tonight’s series opener is at 6:35 from Joe Martin Field.
