BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A local non-profit group is encouraging the community to give back by offering basic needs to Whatcom families.

The Opportunity Council is hosting a “Stuff the Bus” drive in Bellingham on Wednesday, Aug. 7 as part of its Back2Basics campaign. They’re taking items for baby care, back to school supplies, daily household goods and hygiene supplies.

Some of their main needs include diapers and wipes, pots and pans, winter clothing, toilet paper and paper towels.

Wednesday’s basic needs drive takes place at the Lakeway Fred Meyer from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those who can’t make it can also bring donations to any of the following drop-off spots before Wednesday.

  • Opportunity Council
  • Kulshan Community Land Trust Office
  • Whatcom Family YMCA
  • Madrona Gifts/Pumped Bellingham
  • Elements Hot Yoga
  • East Whatcom Regional Resource Center
