OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Voters in Washington are getting the opportunity to choose between many candidates this year when they vote for president.
The official list of presidential candidates that will appear on the Washington ballot is nearly complete. Nine minor party and independent candidates are set to appear on the ballot for Washingtonians along with the two major party candidates.
Among the parties represented is the recently created Cascade Party led by Krist Novoselić, the co-founder and bassist of rock band Nirvana. The Cascade Party of Washington was formed earlier this year to represent what Novoselić described as a centrist alternative to other parties in the state.
We the People Party’s Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Green Party’s Jill Stein head up the list of candidates from parties that exhibit a wide range of political values and beliefs.
The Washington Secretary of State’s office says ballots will be mailed to registered voters by Oct. 18.
To make it on the ballot, candidates need to gather at least 1,000 signatures from Washington voters that haven’t already nominated another party.
