WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Expect a thunderous weekend here in Whatcom County.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says a fast-moving disturbance will bring a round of widespread showers and thunderstorms to western Washington over the next few days.

They’re forecasting thunderstorms in western Whatcom and Skagit counties from Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

NWS is advising people to avoid hilltops, open fields, tall trees and any activities in the water during thunderstorms. They also recommend inside for half an hour after you hear thunder.
