WAHKIAKUM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A woman in southwest Washington has plead guilty after falsely filing workers compensation claims.

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) says 56-year-old Linda Lashell Jordan claimed she suffered PTSD after being attacked by a dog in 2007 while working as a meter reader.

Jordan claimed that even the chance of coming into contact with a dog was too risky for her to return to work or even drive a car. She then regularly filed injury claims, fetching over $162,000 from 2016 to 2019.

An undercover investigator with L&I visited her home in 2018 to buy bricks she had advertised online and was greeted at the door by Jordan and six dogs.

She explained to the undercover investigator that she had been rescuing and fostering dogs for decades. A psychologist later determined that Jordan has been cleared to return to work since at least 2014.

Jordan pleaded guilty and will spend 30 days on electronic home monitoring. It is also likely she will be required to repay L&I the amount she received.
