The high school football postseason is kicking off in Blaine tonight.
Blaine, Meridian and Mount Baker are all facing off in a Kansas tiebreaker for a chance to make it to the 24-team play-in bracket this weekend.
Blaine and Mount Baker will face off first, with the winner playing Meridian with a postseason ticket on the line.
The winner of that will go on the road to face Zillah in the play-in bracket.
The tiebreaker starts at 6:00 from Blaine High School.
Meanwhile, five other Whatcom County teams already have their opponents set for the newly-expanded Week 10 play-in.
Lynden is hosting Nathan Hale at Ferndale High School on Friday with a 7 pm kickoff.
Lynden Christian is hosting King’s Way Christian at Blaine High School on Saturday with a 2 pm kickoff.
Sehome is hosting Chief Sealth at Civic Stadium at 4 pm on Saturday.
Nooksack Valley is hosting Lakeside by 9 Mile at Civic at 7 pm on Saturday.
It’s a rematch of last year’s 1A state semifinal game that saw the Pioneers fall in overtime.
And Ferndale is on the road against Federal Way after handling Shorewood 49-7 last Friday to keep their season alive.
Kickoff is at 6:00 on Saturday.
Every school needs a win to make it into the state tournament, where all the winning teams will be reseeded.

Obed Vargas scored the decisive shootout goal yesterday after a 1-1 tie in regulation to help Seattle sweep the Houston Dynamo in their best-of-three-series.
It came after neither team found the net until Cristian Roldan scored in the 87th minute to give the fourth-seeded Sounders the lead.
But Roldan also had the ball deflect off him for an own goal in the third minute of stoppage time to even the score.
It was the Sounders’ second straight shootout win over the Dynamo, as they’re now one of the final eight teams in the MLS Cup playoffs.
They’ll face the winner of LAFC vs Vancouver in the conference semifinals.
The Kraken’s woes continued yesterday in a 2-0 loss to the Boston Bruins.
Boston scored a pair of goals in the first period and Seattle couldn’t muster any offense in their second straight shutout loss.
The Kraken have now gone 1-6 after starting off the season with a 4-2 record.
They’ll look to rebound against the Colorado Avalanche tomorrow in the final match of their five-game road trip.
