WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A series of bond measures across Whatcom County are on track to fail.

Those measures all require a 60% majority in order to pass.

The most recent election results show 55% of voters are in favor of a $70 million bond for the Blaine School District. Just under 52% voted yes for a $75 million bond in the Meridian School District. And Fire District 1, which covers Everson, Nooksack and Deming likely will not pass a $13 million bond proposition for a new fire station. Only 52.5% of voters within that district approved the measure.

The Whatcom County Auditor’s Office says that there are 12,000 ballots left to be counted, roughly 10% of the total amount of ballots that were cast.
