WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Several events are taking place throughout Whatcom County to honor Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

A public ceremony is being held at the American Legion Post 7 building on W. Bakerview Road starting at 10:30 am. The keynote speaker is retired US Army Col. Paul C Rosser Jr., and the ceremony will conclude with a presentation of colors and a 21-gun salute.

Another Veterans Day assembly has also been scheduled at the Lummi Nation School’s gym. All Veterans and community members are welcome to attend that event, which also begins at 10:30.

According to the Whatcom County Veterans Program, there are over 13,800 veterans in the county. They estimate that 70% of Whatcom County veterans are eligible for PACT Act benefits, but many are not enrolled to receive them.
