BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – There may be a new roundabout coming to north Bellingham next year.

The Bellingham City Council’s Public Works committee voted unanimously to approve a contract bid to install a roundabout at the James Street and Bakerview Road intersection. It went in front of the full council on Nov. 18 for final approval and was passed.

Interim Public Works Director Joel Pfundt says this is a project many years in the making.

“It’s also an intersection that we hear a lot from the community about the impacts it has on the growth out there in safety and vehicle operations as well,” Pfundt said during the committee meeting. “So we’re really pleased to be moving this forward.”

Officials expect the project to last about 50 days beginning in April of 2025. The roads will be partially and fully closed in and near that intersection during that time.
