WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County roads are still seeing the effects of Tuesday night’s bomb cyclone.
Whatcom County Public Works says several roads were closed due to downed trees and power lines. Since their initial announcement, several have reopened including Parks, Innes Creek and Mosquito Lake roads.
Lake Whatcom Boulevard is currently impassible between Camp Firwood and 1670 Lake Whatcom Blvd. The road will likely remain closed for several more days. It’s also closed from Cain Lake to north of Lake Louise.
Public Works is reminding people to never drive around “road closed” signs. The department says it’s received many reports of people going around the signs because the roads appear to be passable.
Meanwhile, the Washington State Department of Transportation says the Custer rest area along NB I-5 has reopened after it closed due to power outages.
