BLAINE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Canadian man has been sentenced for illegally bringing a gun over the Canadian border.

The Canada Border Services Agency says that the man, Russell Major, attempted to reenter Canada in August 2022.

His vehicle was sent to a secondary inspection at the Peace Arch border crossing, where officers found an undeclared handgun and two magazines.

Major pled guilty to six charges in April of this year, including smuggling and importing prohibited firearms.

He was sentenced last month to 5 years in prison.
