The Seahawks lost their spot atop the division last night and to make matters worse, Geno Smith could miss some time.

Seattle fell to the Green Bay Packers 30-13 last night, but they were dealt another significant blow when Smith left the game after suffering a knee injury in the third quarter.

Coach Mike Macdonald says Geno’s knee appears to be structurally intact, but his status for next Sunday’s game against Minnesota is up in the air.

The Packers controlled the entirety of last night’s game, leading 20-3 at halftime and never trailing throughout.

Both Smith and the Seahawks’ backup QB Sam Howell threw interceptions in the loss to snap Seattle’s four-game win streak.

With the Rams’ win last Thursday, the Seahawks now move into second place in the NFC West.

Both LA and Seattle own 8-6 records, but the Rams own the head-to-head tiebreaker.

The Hawks will look to rebound at home next weekend against the 11-2 Minnesota Vikings, who play the Chicago Bears tonight on Monday Night Football.

Coverage begins at 4:30 and kickoff is at 5:15 on KPUG.

Washington State’s phenom quarterback is on the move.

Redshirt sophomore John Mateer has officially entered the transfer portal, as Cougs coach Jake Dickert confirmed to reporters today.

Mateer now becomes one of the most sought-after players in the portal after leading the nation with 44 total touchdowns this season.

Oklahoma is expected to be the front-runner to land him following their hire of WSU offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle earlier this month.

Dickert says backup Zevi Eckhaus will start in Mateer’s place for the Cougs’ upcoming game against Syracuse in the Holiday Bowl.

The Kraken fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-1 on Saturday.

Seattle jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to an early goal by Brandon Montour on a power play.

But the Lightning took over from there and scored the next five goals to earn the fourth win in their last five matches.

The Kraken will look to close out their homestand on a high note tomorrow as they host the Ottawa Senators.

A key pickup for the Mariners at last season’s trade deadline is going back to his former team.

Right-handed reliever Yimi Garcia finalized a two-year, $15 million deal with the Blue Jays on Friday.

It came less than six months after Toronto dealt him to the M’s.

The 34-year-old had a 6.00 ERA over 10 appearances for the Mariners and spent most of his time in Seattle on the injured list with arm trouble.

It comes after the M’s left the winter meetings without making a move, though it’s been reported that they could be discussing a trade with the Red Sox involving starter Luis Castillo.
