The Seahawks are looking to get back in the playoff picture as they hit the home stretch of the season this weekend.

Seattle hosts the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday with a chance to keep playoff hopes high in their third-to-last game of the regular season.

Geno Smith says he expects to play after leaving last game with a knee injury.

The Seahawks will need all the help they can get against a 12-2 Vikings team that is competing for first-place in the NFC North.

Hawks fans will also be rooting against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday when they play the New York Jets.

A Rams loss and a Seahawks win would give Seattle sole possession of first place in the NFC West.

A Whatcom County native is the newest member of Huskies football.

Lynden Christian alum Kade Eldridge announced on social media today that he’s transferring to UW.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end spent two seasons at USC.

He made three catches for 19 yards in 12 games in 2024 and has three years of eligibility remaining.

 

The Kraken fell to the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 last night for their third straight loss.

Chicago stored the first two goals of the match before Ryker Evans scored midway through the third to bring Seattle within one.

But Nolan Allan went on to score an insurance goal for the Blackhawks, who earned their third straight win.

The Kraken will look to snap their losing streak tomorrow night against Las Vegas in the second match of their four-game road trip.

The newly-expanded College Football Playoff is kicking off tonight.

#7 Notre Dame is hosting #10 Indiana in South Bend at 5:00.

Winner plays #2 Georgia, which just announced that starting quarterback Carson Beck is expected to miss the rest of the season.

The rest of the games will be played tomorrow, starting with #11 SMU at #6 Penn State.

After that, #12 Clemson is on the road to face #5 Texas.

The action finishes off with #9 Tennessee at #8 Ohio State.

The second round of the playoff will be held starting on New Year’s Eve and extending into New Year’s Day.

 

A Mariners’ division rival just made a big splash in free agency.

ESPN reports that the Houston Astros signed first baseman Christian Walker to a three-year, $60 million contract today.

The deal is pending a physical exam.

The 33-year-old Walker is widely regarded as one of the league’s best defensive first baseman and brings power to the middle of the Astros’ lineup.

He hit .250 with 95 home runs and 281 RBIs over the past three seasons with the Diamondbacks.

The boys thumped Grace Academy 73-26 to improve to 9-0 on the season.

The Lummi girls added a 72-9 massacre of Grace Academy to notch their sixth straight win.

It’s the third time this season that the Blackhawk girls have held their opponent to single-digit scoring.

The Lynden Christian boys beat Sehome 69-58.

The Bellingham boys handled Anacortes 73-64.

The Bellingham girls lost to Anacortes 59-22.

The Mount Baker girls fell to Burlington-Edison 74-34.

The Nooksack Valley girls edged Sedro-Woolley 54-46.

And the Nooksack boys fell to Sedro-Woolley 78-70.
