WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – This weekend’s forecast has some good news for skiers and snowboarders in the region as we head into the first weekend of 2025.

The National Weather Service in Seattle (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for the west slopes of the North Cascades from 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4 through 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5.

Forecasters are expecting between 4″ and 10″ of snow at elevations above 3,500 ft., including the Mt. Baker Ski Area.

Anyone that’s traveling is being advised to slow down and be careful of slick roads, especially bridges and overpasses.

NWS adds that residents should prepare for possible power outages near Deming and Maple Falls.
