BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A new opioid treatment program will begin seeing Whatcom County patients in the near future.

Health and Community Services says they have partnered with the Swinomish Tribe to bring their didgʷálič Wellness Center to Bellingham.

The wellness center will have a mobile medical unit set up at the Anne Deacon Center for Hope six days a week. Staff members will offer addiction counseling, medications and other services to help those struggling with opioid addiction.

The center will be available to anyone seeking services in Whatcom County starting Jan. 27.

Outreach Coordinator for the center Leon John told My Bellingham Now that the center will transport anyone needing further medical attention to the Anacortes building as part of their commitment to a person’s “whole person wellness.”
