SEATTLE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is warning folks to check their bags before they head to the airport.

KIRO reports that in 2024, 180 guns were found improperly stored in bags screened around Washington state. The highest number was reported at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, amounting to a total of 115 confiscated guns.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that Sea-Tac was on track to hit a record number of guns seized at the airport by October in 2024. Several knives and a grenade were also found during TSA searches last year.

The agency is reminding travelers that in order to travel with a gun, it must be properly stored and secured.
