BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A deal that appeared too good to be true landed a Bellingham man behind bars.

The Bellingham Police Department says that a community member saw an online posting for an electric bike that appeared to have been stolen earlier this month. They told investigators that the bike was being listed for thousands of dollars below its retail value.

Court documents state that a person posing as a buyer met with the 46-year-old suspect to take a look at the bike. The fake buyer took a picture of the bike’s serial number, which investigators later used to determine that the bike had been reported as stolen.

Officers recovered the e-bike while taking the suspect into custody and were able to return it to its rightful owner.
