BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A series of masterworks from French artists will be gracing the walls of a local museum.

The City of Bellingham announced that three masterworks from Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse and Auguste Renoir will be coming to the Whatcom Museum in February.

The impressionist and post-impressionist artists are lauded by the art world for their innovative use of color and linework to depict ordinary things.

Whatcom Museum members will be able to see the works on Feb. 13 and the exhibit will open to the public on Feb. 14.

The paintings come to the museum as part of the “Across the Nation” program to share iconic artworks with 10 regional museums nationwide.

The paintings will be on long-term loan, and the museum plans to begin a pilot program to give K-12 school field trips free admission to the exhibit titled Verdant.
