FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man is in custody after leading police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.

City of Ferndale spokesperson Megan Juenemann says that Lummi Police began pursuing the vehicle at around 8 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20.

The chase continued for several miles from the Lummi Reservation into the city limits of Ferndale.

The suspect, identified in jail records as a 39-year-old man, got out of the vehicle near Thornton and Church Streets in Ferndale and attempted to escape on foot. Officers caught up to him and he was taken into custody.

The suspect faces numerous charges from Lummi Police, including assault and reckless driving on top of a warrant for drug charges.

It’s unclear if he will face additional charges from Ferndale Police.
