BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Two suspected fentanyl dealers from Everson have been arrested following a months-long investigation.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deb Slater says the Whatcom Gang and Drug Task Force began its probe into the operation last December. Investigators believed two suspects, a 39-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, were working together to buy drugs from a Seattle mall and drive them up to Whatcom County.

The two were pulled over in Bellingham on Friday, Feb. 21, and deputies found roughly a kilo of fentanyl powder inside a suitcase.

Slater says the man later admitted to sending drug proceeds to Mexico and handling other proceeds from local members of the drug ring.

A search warrant served on their residence in Everson turned up a firearm, which was illegal since the man is not a US citizen.

Both suspects were arrested on Friday and remain at the Whatcom County Jail on $300,000 bail.
