BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man was arrested after threatening a driver with a fake gun in a Bellingham road rage incident.
Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says that a person driving on Samish Way on Tuesday, March 4 was nearly cut off by another vehicle.
The suspect driver, identified as a 21-year-old man, kept pulling up alongside the victim’s car to yell at them.
The victim told investigators that the suspect appeared to be struggling with a bag in the front of the car while they were being followed. At a traffic light on N. State Street, the suspect stopped his car and threatened the victim with what appeared to be a firearm.
The victim immediately called 9-1-1 and pulled over at a safe location.
Officers were able to contact the suspect driver and searched his car, only to find a foam cutout in the shape of a gun.
The suspect was arrested and could face harassment and brandishing charges.
