ACME, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A suspect has been arrested in connection to a Christmas Day break-in attempt at a local restaurant.

The ACME Diner says the 66-year-old man was taken into custody on Sunday.

Surveillance footage from the diner on Christmas night last year showed a person cutting cables to the building’s power and unsuccessfully trying to enter the building. Court documents state the attempted break-in caused nearly $6,000 in damages.

The following night, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputies saw a man matching the suspect’s description with the same vehicle in a shoplifting case at Walmart.

A search warrant of the car recovered multiple sets of plyers and other tools.

The man was found to have several other warrants for his arrest and remains at the Whatcom County Jail.
