BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man convicted of selling drugs in Whatcom County has been taken into ICE custody.

ICE Seattle says that 36-year-old Victor Alcala-Arellanes of Mexico was arrested in Bellingham on Monday, May 5.

Alcala-Arellanes pled guilty in February of drug trafficking and possession and was sentenced to 16 months in prison. He was arrested along with four others in March 2024 as part of a targeted investigation into a Mexico-based drug trafficking operation.

Alcala-Arellanes was transferred to a Department of Corrections (DOC) facility on February 11, but it’s unclear when and if he was released from DOC custody.
