WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – There’s one last chance to run for local offices that still have an open seat.
The Whatcom County Auditor’s Office says the special 3-day filing period for the currently uncontested positions began on Wednesday.
There are 13 seats up for reelection this fall that no one has filed to run for yet.
They include commissioner positions on several local fire districts, cemetery districts, a water district and Lynden Regional Park and Recreation.
Any declarations of candidacy have to be received by the auditor by 4 p.m. on Friday, May 16.
The open seats will be listed on the general election ballot in November.
