BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Bellingham-based seafood distributer is recalling over 44,000 pounds of shrimp.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says Bornstein Seafoods has recalled its cooked and peeled ready-to-eat Coldwater Shrimp Meat over a possible Listeria contamination.
The recall includes products under Bornstein Seafoods packaging in a 1 lb. or 5 lb. plastic bag.
The product was sent directly to distributers in Washington, California, Oregon and British Columbia, but may have also been shipped to retailers nationwide.
No illnesses have been reported yet, according to the FDA.
Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people or others with weakened immune systems.
Consumers who have purchased the affected product are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company by email at Andrew@bornstein.com.
