BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Summer weather is prompting an upcoming ban in east Whatcom County.
Campfires, fire pits, and barbecue grills will be banned for the entirety of the North Cascades National Park Service Complex beginning on Thursday, July 3.
That includes the Ross Lake and Lake Chelan recreational areas, as well as all campgrounds along Highway 20.
Stoves or grills that are powered by bottled or pressurized liquid fuel are still allowed to be used, as long as it contains an on/off switch.
Warm temperatures and a decrease in spring precipitation has led to ideal wildfire conditions.
Park officials are urging recreationists to be mindful if they smoke and to never set off fireworks on federal lands.
